Fourth Grade Wows with Their Summer Assignment Globalization Research Projects!
The Boulevard outside of the Fourth Grade classrooms was full of oohs and ahhs and a few "That's SO cool!" as our students shared their summer assignments with each other, their teachers, and Speyer Administration. Over the summer months, fourth graders took on the challenge to research the movement of an idea, a good, or a group of people or a person as a launch of their study of globalization. They had to present their research physically or digitally and follow certain parameters including using only approved informational sources.
What did they choose to study? We spotted a wide range of topics from the movement of goods such as chocolate, spices, mangoes, bicycles, avocados, soccer, and pasta to the movement of ideas such as algebra and the Spanish language. Some students also interviewed relatives and friends to learn about the movement of people. The way they presented their research was just as varied – some created posters and game boards, others created digital presentations such as Google Slides presentations, movies, interviews, and online Kahoots! games. Needless to say, we were all blown away by their projects and research!
