  • Founding trustee Dr. Kelly Posner Gerstenhaber was selected as one of Forbes’ 50 Over 50 list! She is listed among other groundbreaking female entrepreneurs, investors, inventors and artists for her work that is saving lives in 45 countries on six continents. As founder of the Columbia Lighthouse Project in 2004, she was able to grow the reach of the Columbia Protocol, a suicide prevention tool developed by Columbia University that is now used worldwide by schools, hospitals, and the military.

  • Founding trustee Jennifer Selendy’s law firm Selendy Gay PLLC has been making headlines with cases that are making a difference across the country including wins against book banning in Florida and Johnson & Johnson!

  • In mid-December 2024, a group of Speyer fourth and fifth graders trekked to the Museum of Jewish Heritage to see their new exhibit, "Courage to Act: Rescue in Denmark.” This exhibit relays the details of the mass evacuation of Jews from Denmark to Sweden during World War II. Designed with the input of school children, the exhibit is age-appropriate and focuses on the bravery of individuals and members of society even during the harshest of times. The exhibit made a huge impact on Speyer's group. As part of their visit, our students were interviewed by a team from NBC National News. They were featured in Harry Smith's "Sunday Spotlight" piece on Sunday TODAY with Willie Geist — you can view it here!

  • Speyer was featured in the New York Times in an article by Ashley Gilbertson chronicling how schools in the New York City area were reopening in the Fall of 2020 after the pandemic.

  • In 2019, Speyer was awarded a Blackboard Award for Outstanding School and founding co-chair Jennifer Selendy offered insight into Speyer’s educational philosophy and our 10-year history in an interview with New York Family magazine.

  • As part of a group of admissions directors and heads of school from a number of top independent schools, as well as savvy educational consultants, our former Director of Admissions Jackie Sirgo passed along her expert advice to New York Family magazine readers. In the August 2018 issue, she gave her input on the process of choosing the right school, while in the September/October 2018 issue, she offered expert insight into how to help children and parents prepare for school visits

  • Our Deputy Head of School Paul Deards was featured in Education Week as he outlined the case for teaching Debate in schools and also had an opinion piece on the importance of gifted education published in the Huffington Post.
